Sometime in 2016 I began to read non-fiction books and scientific journal articles for a few hours each morning. I’ve now read hundreds of books and thousands of articles, mainly in the realms of psychology, evolutionary biology, complexity science, and cognitive science. I think it’s time for me to share what I’ve learned with the world, or at least with the five or six people who might subscribe to this substack.

Here are some of the topics you can expect to read about if you subscribe:

  1. Evolutionary psychology

  2. Cultural evolution

  3. Cognitive science

  4. Complexity science

  5. Morality and religion

  6. The meaning crisis in the Western world

  7. Friedrich Nietzsche, Alfred North Whitehead, and maybe some other philosophers

This may seem like a somewhat random collection of topics, but I believe they are all connected. The first four provide the keys to solving the modern problems associated with 5 and 6. And much of that was foreshadowed by the philosophical musings of the two men of 7, who were both way ahead of their time.

My plan is to publish once every 1-2 weeks, depending on the length of the posts. Posts will be of varying length, with some shorter essays of ~2,000 words and some that are 10,000+ words.

Everything is free, but if you really feel like giving me money that option is available.
